As a Justice involved individual we face many challenges, at the age 23 I caught my first strike. Doing time was the easy part, coming home is the challenge. 6 years into my prison sentence I received news that I was eligible for the g.r.e program. Once I arrived at work release for a 7 month term which would be followed up with 5 months of house arrest. 6 months into my work release term I had 2 addresses denied which was a road block to coming home. In need of assistance with an address and resources under threat of being sent back to prison for the remainder of my sentence I received the blessing of connecting with Leveled up. I reached out to Tay who helped me navigate the portals and correspondence to obtain proper assistance. I was told by d.o.c staff that I had 14 days to find an address or I would be in violation and Leveled Up assisted me with securing housing. After this blessing i have been involved in the mentorship program and working with my leveled up navigator who has also been a blessing. After being away for some years, working with leveled up has helped me take a huge forward stride into successful reentry to the community. My navigator Jazz has assisted me with setting up basic essentials that help make life function on this side of the walls. Leveled up's community partners have also played a huge role in this process, helping furnish my apartment and also providing assistance with any needs that I have. I am now home in my own fully furnished apartment, working a full time job, and have the resources available to me that will prevent me from going back to prison. Working with leveled up has shown me that anything is possible having a felony and if we keep our heads in the right space that I can push through any roadblock and knock down any wall the system tries to put in front of me because FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!!!!
